The Orange Hub Theatre to host Gateway Chorus (Tenant) Performance
“In many ways, this is one giant step in the right direction for the arts community and the city initiative of The Orange Hub to be a full-service art community space," said Cara Bedford Marketing Coordinator Gateway Chorus, “We are honored and privileged to be one of the first tenants in The Orange Hub and now one of the first to use the theatre on May 1st for our pre-contest performance. Having a theatre that can be used to showcase our art form was an attractor for Gateway’s application to the City’s RFP. It is great to see the city working together with us, the tenants, to achieve that original vision.”
Gateway Chorus is an all women a cappella barbershop choir, established in 1961. Gateway has competed at International competition six times and will be competing for another title spot in Surrey, BC May 5th. This concert gives them the stage and platform to practice their package in full choreography and costume to an audience.
“Our members have been working so hard to prepare for contest. This year we have had so many new things happen to us. The new home move with The Orange Hub, a record year of new members joining and the first time singing in the Orange Hub Theatre” said Lisa Greenough Director of Gateway Chorus.
The May 1st performance starts at 7:30pm (doors at 7) is kid friendly and is free.
“We want everyone to have the opportunity to be able to see the wonderful space Gateway gets to call home,” continued Greenough “so we thought why not put on a concert and invite everyone we know.”
Gateway Chorus invites the arts community, media, local community residents and anyone who would like to see them sing, to come on in and take a peek into new city arts space called The Orange Hub. After the performance there will be a tea and coffee reception.
